Monday evening, April 15, 2002 TARC members, student authors, families and friends came together at Duvall Auditorium (University Medical Center) to CELEBRATE LITERACY.  Student authors received a copy of the poetry anthology, VOICES IN THE DESERT, and many students read their poems on stage.  Click here to learn more about the Celebrate Literacy/Blooming Poets event.

A full house enthusiastically supported the poets, and the TARC Celebrate Literacy Award Recipients.  Several individuals in the Tucson Area received the Celebrate Literacy Awards, and they were recognized for making positive, visible literacy contributions to our community.

Student poets, families and educators filled the entry way, in anticipation of live poetry readings.

Just prior to his poetry reading session, Bob Wortman greets the audience.

A beautiful anthology of student-written poems awaited each student author.

TARC Board Members prepared for guests.

New ARA/TARC t-shirts made their "debut" at our Celebrate Literacy event.  Design created by artist, Nancy Lenches, of Tucson.

Bob Wortman delighted the audience, young an old, with his dynamic and physical poetry readings.

Student poets were treated to a free book, courtesy of KUAT.

We look forward to another positive Celebrate Literacy event, to be held in spring 2003.
