Jenny Ore-Giron - Adult Education Award

     Jenny's contributions to literacy involve her role as president of the Tucson Area Literacy Coalition (TALC).  This organization hosts an annual area literacy summit conference, which brings together groups involved in the adult literacy community, including both volunteers and professionals.  TALC also advocates in support of state legislation for adult education and family literacy, presents workshops on literacy issues and solutions, publishes "THE READER," a newsletter, sponsors author visits with adult literacy students and community readings, and produces an annual Directory for Adult Education and Literacy Resources in Tucson.

     The benefits of this organization include: bringing together learners, service providers, businesses, school leaders, civic organizations, government agencies and interested community members to build a more literate community.
